ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION (Anticipated Opening)
Title of Position: Substitute Educational Support Personnel
Work Year:
2025-2026 School Year Effective Date of Employment: Immediately
Salary: SUBSTITUTE: $15.00 per hour

Organizational Relationship or Line of Authority:
Works under the supervision of teachers who are responsible to the Building Principal and the appropriate Director/Supervisor.

Statement of Duties:
  • Assists in the teaching process and works directly with children under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher or Special Needs teacher in class support.
  • Responsible for addressing student behavior and encouraging effort in the classroom.
  • Ability to use good judgment and exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with others; ability to respect confidential matters.
  • Must have traits of resourcefulness, thoroughness, initiative, patience, courtesy, dependability, and enthusiasm.
  • Assists in toileting certain handicapped children. Lifts and carries certain handicapped children.
  • Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the teacher, principal, supervisors/directors, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent credits, preferred.
  • Prefer prior experience with children in a school or similar setting, preferred.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
